About the position

The USN School of Business has a vacancy for two positions as Postdoctoral Fellow in Organization and Management in the Research Council of Norway funded project REMOTE: Remote work for all: Implications of motivation and job recovery for work-related health and performance in the context of home-office from 01.03.2022 and 01.09.2022, respectively.

The positions are associated with the Department of Business, Marketing, and Law and reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is Campus Ringerike, Norway.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Norwegian doctorate or equivalent education abroad in a social science discipline with relevance for organization and management studies (organizational behaviour, organizational psychology, human resource management, etc). Knowledge and experience on the topics of work characteristics, inclusive workplace, and/or occupational health and performance, along with job recovery and self-determination theory applied to the work domain is highly relevant. The applicant must have gained the degree within commencement of the position.

Co-operation between project members is an integrated part of the project. The candidates must be motivated and demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively within a team and in a collegiate manner to formulate and realize common project objectives. At the same time, the nature of the candidates’ role in the project dictates that the applicant is innovative, can work independently, and be able to manage a research study from beginning to end. The planned work for the first postdoctoral fellow requires experience with quantitative research (especially longitudinal research) methods and analyses. For the second postdoctoral fellow, the planned wok will require skills in qualitative methodology. The ability to perform high impact work, demonstrated by previous publications in relevant journals, will be positive.

High-level proficiency in written and spoken English is required and some mastery of a Scandinavian language is an advantage for performing parts of the empirical work.

The staff at the faculty work within subject teams to a large extent, and the candidate must be motivated to share his or her knowledge and cooperate. Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.

Information about the position

The post-doctoral fellows will conduct research within the project “Remote work for all: Implications of motivation and job recovery for work-related health and performance in the context of home-office (REMOTE)” funded by the Research Council of Norway. The candidates recruited for this position will work on empirical studies on the topics of job recovery and work motivation in relation to occupational health and performance in the context of remote working arrangements. Additional activities to conducting relevant research will be report writing, result dissemination through international conferences and peer reviewed publications as well as to relevant stakeholders, and supporting the project manager in administrative tasks by acting as a project assistant.

The first postdoctoral fellow will work on questions pertaining to recovery, work characteristics, work motivation, and work-related health mainly using quantitative methodologies. The fellowship is scheduled to start 01.03.2022 and is an appointment for a term of 3 years.

The second post-doctoral fellow will work on questions pertaining to inclusive workplace, work motivation, and work-related health mainly using qualitative methodologies. The fellowship is scheduled to start 01.09.2022 and is an appointment for a term of 2 years.

The main purpose of a post-doctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue scientific positions within or beyond academia. To promote a strategic career path, all post-doctoral research fellows are required to submit a professional development plan no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoral period. It is a requirement that the candidates are able to complete the assigned tasks of the project during the period of employment. As mentioned, the fellowships are scheduled to start 01.03.2022 and 01.09.2022, but for the right candidate the starting date can be agreed upon with the project manager. Salary

Postdoctoral fellow (postdoktor) (code 1352): LT 62-72 (NOK 563 900 – 677 600 a year), depending on seniority. In special cases, higher salary may be considered. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee’s salary to the state pension plan.

Salary grade according to seniority and competence. Statutory amounts for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund will be deducted from salary.

The person appointed must comply with the laws, regulations and agreements that apply at any given time to the post.

The Academic Appointments Board is responsible for appointments to academic positions at University College of Southeast Norway. An expert assessment of applicants will be carried out.
