One 2 year half-time Researcher position (SKO 1109) is available at the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education (SHE), hosted by the Faculty of Medicine.

SHE was established as a National Center for Excellence in Education (SFU) in 2020 and has received a 5 + 5 year grant from the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (Diku). The goal of the center is to renew the Faculty's health education programmes in light of the UN's sustainable development goals (SDGs). SHE is committed to including sustainability as an integrated part of decision-making and to help to teach sustainable decision-making to future health-professionals.

The two-year half-time researcher will specifically focus on developing models for evidence-based decisions that take sustainability and the SDGs into account. This implies exploring how to integrate future concerns in evidence-based decisions, and how to conceptualize the relations between local decisions, universal evidence and global resources. Models and concepts developed by the researcher will be further implemented and tested in health professional education by the SHE team. By expanding the Evidence Based Practice (EBP) paradigm SHE will develop, implement and disseminate innovative education strategies providing students and healthcare workers with knowledge and skills needed to incorporate global values and principles into comprehensive health-care decisions. SHE will facilitate innovative training of health professionals to make individual evidence-based decisions based on a broad understanding of global and future social, political, economic, and environmental contexts.

Qualification requirements

For the researcher position, we seek a candidate with a strong background in philosophy of science, theories of knowledge and evidence with relevance for health professions and health professional education.

A PhD in a relevant field of research with emphasis on the foundations and ethics of evidence-based practice

Health professional background is an advantage.

The candidate should be able to work independently and structured, while at the same time engage in close collaborations with members of the research group and research participants.

A good command of English and Norwegian is required.
