ScienceNordic was opened on November 15 on a conference on science communication, hosted by forskning.no, one of the partners of the new online science magazine.

The Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education, Tora Aasland, who opened ScienceNordic, says she expects the new portal to make Nordic research more visible on the global arena:

“The new digital media are changing the way researchers communicate and interact with society, and we must strengthen the ability of Nordic researchers to communicate with a world audience.”

ScienceNordic covers science in the broadest sense – the human sciences as well as natural science, health and technology, but will pay extra attention to areas where Nordic researchers have their particular strengths. This includes areas such as green technology, climate and the environment, oil and offshore technology, biotechnology, gender equality and the welfare state and its economy.
