This year’s theme is communication in all its forms.

During the festival, researchers in a wide variety of subject areas will meet the people in new and sometimes unexpected arenas: town squares, shopping centres, theatre stages, debate venues, pubs and cafés. The festival seeks to entertain, inspire and engage.

National Science Week shares knowledge about research and how exciting it can be with the general public and event participants. The events give people insight into what research comprises, how research is carried out, the kinds of research taking place locally and the importance of research for the future of each individual and the country as a whole.

In a wider perspective, the festival aims to promote recruitment to higher education and careers in research.
