"It gave me new insight"

This is how students summarised their half-year multicultural programme in an international class.

Associate Professor Geir Hoaas at the Department of Early Childhood Education has been leading the course entitled Multicultural Identity in a Global World for ten years now.

The course lasts for one semester and has between 24 and 32 student teachers and early childhood teachers from 12 to 16 different countries, mostly European, but also from other parts of the world.

In a scientific paper published in the Universal Journal of Educational Research, Hoaas describes how students react to being confronted with their own attitudes, values, and convictions, and how these all change during their time on the course.
