This year’s indicators report makes it clear that society both in Norway and globally is becoming more and more knowledge-intensive. Education, research and innovation are on the rise in many parts of the world.

The extensive presentation of statistics and indicators found in the 2013 Report on Science and Technology Indicators for Norway offers a valuable framework for viewing Norwegian research and innovation, complete with commentary and analysis, also in an international perspective.

“On the international front, it is especially interesting to see that strong investment in research in the emerging economies is shifting the balance of activity among countries and parts of the world,” says Director General of the Research Council Arvid Hallén.
